Wind Powered Motorcycle

James Dyson Award Entry, Strangeworld, An ‘energy in and energy out’ wind powered motorcycle, designed for what the designer, Alistair McInniess imagines the 2050 Australian climate will require.

Says the inventor, "The main task is a development of 'future transport' that can address the prerequisites in a 2050 predicted environment, fuelling a vehicle and it’s user with all the actors necessary for a comfortable and relaxing journey. I have been drawn towards the development of a post fossil fuel motorcycle. The design for a ‘renewable energy’ motorcycle has to address two major problems surrounding tourism travel in Australia; the vast environment Australia has to be traversed, and how to supply the means. The chameleon-like manoeuvrability of a motorcycle in today’s society, lends itself to the environments of 2050, and the hostilities that may arrive in this new age.

Flat Track Badass Dale Lineaweaver Joins Team Alta

Alta Motors is excited to announce the latest addition to the team, the legendary Bay Area flat track tuner, developer, and builder, Dale Lineaweaver. For the uninitiated, Dale’s accomplishments span over 38 years of professional motorcycle racing, tuning and building insane racers like this, this, this, this, and a whole lot more. He also participated in OEM development programs for Husaberg, Suzuki, and BMW in ISDE Enduro, flat track, and drag racing. That includes a Formula USA Grand National championship for a Husaberg team Lineaweaver ran, and on a race bike he personally developed and built. When it comes to developing fast motorcycles for the track, just about any track, this guy is serious horsepower.

Shinden Yon Sets New Records At Isle Of Man TT

For the second consecutive year Team Mugen, with the latest iteration of the Shinden electric motorcycle, Shinden Yon, set new benchmarks in the Isle of Man TT Zero class.
Arriving at the same time as a Force 9 gale hit the island disrupting the practice week schedule and forcing the cancellation of the planned Saturday practice for TT Zero, which along with a mechanical failure in the Friday free-practice for the #5 machine of Bruce Anstey, meant Team Mugen had only 1 lap of current data available to them at this stage instead of the planned 4 laps (equivalent to 4 x race distance) and the team were forced to amend their strategy for the remainder of the event.

Injury Forces Rider Change On Victory TT Team - But Improvements None The Less

Victory Racing charges through second practice and Guy Martin rides his first TT lap ever on an electric motorcycle

  • William Dunlop unable to ride due to a crash in morning practice in another class
  • Teammate Guy Martin (Tyco BMW) steps in and has his first TT Zero experience
  • Lee Johnston screams through Sulby at 157.9mph greatly increasing top speed

Isle of Man: Victory Racing has charged forward in its second practice with Guy Martin replacing injured William Dunlop to ride his first ever lap of the TT course on an electric motorcycle.
William fell from his Tyco BMW S1000RR at Laurel Bank in the morning’s Superstock practice lap and was taken to Nobles hospital. Victory Racing Breaks The 100nph Average Lap Speed Barrier On Its First TT Zero Practice Session

Victory Racing has successfully run its two electric bikes in the first practice session ahead of the TT Zero race. Six racers set out on the practice, but only three crossed the line with two of those being the Victory machines. Getting both bikes back across the line and breaking past 100mph laps on Victory's first ever attempt at the TT is a promising start.
